Summary: Funny Girl is a semi-biographical musical following the rise of awkward Jewish girl Fanny Brice to vaudeville stardom and her stormy romance with gambler Nicky Arnstein.  Despite being told she lacks the looks for a stage career, she breaks into vaudeville with the help of friend Eddie Ryan.  Fanny and Nick live a lavish life; however, when her career and fame eclipse his fragile ego, Fanny ultimately parts ways with Nick, choosing to face her future independently.
