Summary:  A greedy syndicate of wealthy financiers, oil barons, and prospectors discover that there is petroleum gushing directly beneath the cobblestone streets of Paris. They scheme to tear up the city, ruining its beauty and culture for pure profit. Countess Aurelia learns of the evil plot, and, refusing to let the world be ruined by greed, Aurelia invites her fellow eccentrics to hold a secret mock trial, luring the corrupt capitalists into a trap.
