Summary:  Mary arrives in Scotland from France as a young, Catholic, and ambitious queen facing a hostile, fiercely Protestant Scottish nobility and the looming, paranoid threat of her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I of England.  Elizabeth schemes constantly to undermine Mary's claim to the English throne.
