Setting:  Athens, Greece, and a mystical, magical forest just outside the city walls

Summary:  Egeus wants his daughter Hermia to marry Demetrius, but Hermia loves Lysander. Helena loves Demetrius. Hermia and Lysander flee into the nearby woods, where Oberon and Titania, the king and queen of the fairies, are fighting. Oberon orders his mischievous servant Puck to use a magical love potion on Titania and the Athenian youths. Puck's magic misfires. Both Lysander and Demetrius fall hopelessly in love with Helena, abandoning Hermia and causing chaos and jealousy among the friends.
