Setting: A theater in Buffalo, New York

Summary:  Fading Broadway and film stars George and Charlotte Hay are touring a small repertory company in Buffalo, performing Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives. Their marriage and the play are on the verge of total collapse after George gets the company's young ingenue pregnant. When word arrives that legendary Hollywood director Frank Capra is coming to their matinee to scout talent for his new movie, naked ambition sparks pure frantic pandemonium. Everything goes hilariously wrong due to a drunken George, a deaf and hostile mother-in-law, mistaken identities, and absolute confusion over which play they are actually supposed to be performing.
