Summary: Henry Higgins, an arrogant phonetics professor, makes a wager with his colleague, Colonel Pickering, that he can teach a poor flower seller, Eliza Doolittle, to speak so well that she can pass as a duchess at an embassy ball. Eliza moves into Higgins' home to endure grueling elocution lessons but manages to successfully charm high society at the embassy ball, winning Higgins' bet. But when Higgins fails to acknowledge her hard work or personal growth, Eliza walks out, realizing her own independence and self-worth.
