Summary: The Color Purple story follows Celie, a young African American girl in Georgia. She suffers abuse from her father, who takes away her children. She is then forced to marry an abusive man known as Mister, who separates her from her beloved sister, Nettie, and hides Nettie's letters from her. Celie lives in quiet despair until she meets strong, independent women who help her find her voice and embark on an epic journey to reclaim her home, find inner strength, and reunite with her sister and family.
