Summary:  Tom, a warm-hearted, impulsive young man and falls deeply in love with Sophia Western, who is in an arranged marriage.  Tricked by lies, Tom is banished from his home estate, and Sophia runs away to escape her forced engagement, sparking a madcap chase along the country roads to London.  After a series of romantic entanglements, mistaken identities, and perils, truths are revealed, and Tom is reunited with Sophia to live happily ever after.
