Setting: fictional Treegap, New Hampshire

Summary: 11-year-old Winnie Foster runs away into the woods and discovers the Tuck family, who possess the secret of eternal life from a magical spring.  She befriends the family and helps them defend the secret against the sinister Man in Yellow, but ultimately faces the true meaning of mortality and living life to the fullest when she must make the choice for herself to have an ordinary life of growing older, or to stay young forever.
