Fantasy F/X by Mehron is a fantastic water based tube makeup. Fantasy F/X is nontoxic, can be removed with soap and water, and is available in a variety of the brightest and most popular colors.
Fantasy F/X is a highly pigmented water based and water soluble cream style makeup. Usually when the word cream is used to describe makeup one thinks of heavy, greasy, oil based makeup that needs to be set with powder. When used in describing Fantasy F/X nothing could be further from the truth. Cream just describes the texture, a little bit less thick than toothpaste.
Fantasy F/X is a high quality low cost makeup that is perfectly forgiving for beginners and simply amazing in the hands of a professional makeup artist.
Fantasy F/X is equally suited for use on stage, for cosplay, body and face painting.
It is a nice no muss no fuss application for simply showing team colors at sporting events. It can even be used in your hair. Just remember that it may stain very light blonde, bleached or white hair. Fantasy F/X should be any face painters go to for events where you will be dealing with numerous clients. One can easily practice proper hygienic protocols by simply placing small amounts of needed colors onto a disposable pallet such as a wax coated paper plate. When you are done with each client throw away the pallet and sanitize your brushes. It may sound wasteful but with practice you will know how much product you will require and find the only thing you are throwing out is the paper plate. It is recommended to have two sets of brushes, one set is sitting in alcohol while the other set is being used, then swap them out. Using the same brushes in the same cups of color for numerous people is a sure fire way to spread skin infections and viral disease. Yuck!
Fantasy F/X are super easy to use. Starting with clean dry skin is always the beginning point of any makeup application. Next an application of Barrier Spray is recommended, especially so with any water-soluble makeup. Oils and sweat could wreck your work. You will want to start with your base/foundation color. Start with your lightest color first, black will easily go over white but it will take a bit of work to get white over black, not impossible but more work. Squirt a small amount of Fantasy F/X on to your waxed paper plate or pallet, then take a Latex Sponge Wedge and dip it into the makeup. Get a nice even coating. Then using a dabbing or stippling motion apply the makeup. You do not want to try to paint it on with a latex sponge, the coverage will not be consistent. Use as little product as possible to do this, just enough to get an even coloring. Anything more is wasted and will lead to cracking and flaking. When this coat is dry you can apply your other colors. If you want to keep your look on for a long period of time of and will be sweating a lot, use barrier spray between all color layers. Brushes can be used for all your smaller and detail areas.
When using certain colors for certain characters your base/foundation will want to be applied differently. When using Moonlight White for a ghost or Zombie Grey for a zombie or ghoul you will want to apply the makeup roughly with a sponge and then use your hands to pull/smear the makeup in one direction. This will give a more translucent effect that will enhance the ethereal qualities of a ghost or spirit like the Ancestors in The Addams Family or the blotchy skin rot of a zombie.
Removal of Fantasy effects is one of its many high points. Simply hop in the shower and us soap and water! No fooling with extra makeup removers, no heavy scrubbing. Let the soap and water do the work, let the soap break down the makeup, it is much easier on the skin. Some colors especially red may stain the skin, using the recommended Barrier Spray will help prevent this.
Fantasy F/X comes in 1 oz. tubes in various shades. It is mixable in the same way artists paints are. A purchase of Black, White, Red, Yellow, and Blue give you the keys to a custom colored rainbow for less than Twenty bucks, Thirty with the Barrier Spray (It is so worth the extra). Fantasy F/X goes a long way a 1 Oz. tube cover 4-6 full faces. An entire average size male body can be covered with around 4 tubes. It is always better to overestimate what you will need for your job. Better to have it and not need it makes sense. When tightly capped and stored in a cool dry place Fantasy F/X will easily last a year. If too thick use a bit of water to thin it back out. The pigment is still there.
Fantasy F/X is cruelty free and vegan with the exception of the glow colors. As always this product is proudly made in the U.S.A since 1927.
