This play is the story of the Gilbreth family as narrated by siblings Frank and Ernestine. Mr. Gilbreth, a leader of industrial efficiency, has a secret: he has a heart condition with a few months to live. His new priority is to make his family independent by applying his efficient methods to his large family. Of course, uproarious situations ensue. The children misunderstand. Anne, his teenage daughter, rebels. Although he and Anne struggle in their relationship, they eventually grow in deep respect and love.
