A Tale of Two Cities: Adapted from the world-renowned novel by Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities depicts the social ills faced by the French peasantry by the hands of the French aristocracy leading up to the French revolution, followed by the brutality exacted upon the former nobles by revolutionaries during the revolution. The many ugly social parallels between life in London and that in Paris during the revolutionary period are depicted as well. The story revolves around Charles Damay and Sydney Carton, a French noble and English lawyer caught up in a fatal feud between the Defarges and the brutal Marquis d’Evérmonde. The epic tale’s drama is heightened and accented by stirring and reflective songs.
