Doctor In Spite of Himself: Moliere's ever-popular comedy centers around 17th century woodcutter Sganarelle. To punish his bad treatment of her, his wife Martine decides to set him up as a learned, albeit eccentric physician. When wealthy landowner Géronte falls for Martine's ruse and begs the good doctor to cure his unmarried daughter Lucinde's sudden muteness, Sganarelle finds himself playing into Martine's setup, eventually with hilarious and successful results.
