Doubt: A Parable: John Patrick Shanley's 2004 play won both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play. Set in St. Nicholas Church School in the Bronx in 1964, this four character drama explores the power and failings of doubt and the consequences of blind faith. Sister Aloysius, a Sister of Charity and the rigidly conservative school principal believes that the progressive young priest Father Flynn has been in inappropriate contact with the school's first black student, Donald Muller. Using Sister James, a naïve and timid young teacher, as an unsuspecting informant and springboard, Aloysius confronts Father Flynn and Donald's mother, Mrs. Muller.
