Set in 1989, Westerberg High School student, Veronica Sawyer despairs over her student body’s cruel social hierarchy. Unpopular students like Veronica’s best friend Martha are bullied by jocks, and the students are ruled by the Heathers, a trio of ruthless queen bees that share the same first name. Veronica’s dreams of popularity begin to come true when her talents for forgery elevate her to the Heathers’ inner circle. Veronica soon finds, however, that being popular is not all that it is cracked up to be, and when she gets tangled up with the mysterious new kid, J.D., her high school problems take a deadly turn.
