Lost in Stars: By Kurt Weill. Book and lyrics by Maxwell Anderson. Based on the novel, “Cry the Beloved Country” by Alan Paton. Set in the 1940s in South Africa, a black Anglican priest finds his son in prison for the murder of the son of a wealthy white planter. In the racial turmoil that results, the priest loses his faith, while the planter finds his, and together they discover common ground and understanding.
