The Crucible
The Crucible: Arthur Miller's acclaimed play uses the Salem Witch Trials of the 1690's to draw parallels to the era and dangers of 1940's McCarthyism. In a closed Puritan community of Massachusetts, a group of young girls begin, as alleged channels of God, to accuse an increasingly prestigious portion of the community of witchcraft. A long series of trials and social pressure test the villagers' faith and tear the community apart.
