The King and I

The King and I: Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical adaptation of Margaret Landon's book Anna and the King of Siam (itself based on the memoirs of Anna Leonowens entitled The English Governess at the Siamese Court), follows a strong willed English governess halfway across the world to teach the children of the King of Siam. Anna's 1860's western ideals and the King's cultural traditions clash as the two learn slowly to respect and compromise with each other.
